Susan Jenkins is an innovative art educator and professional artist with over 20 years of experience in artistic creation, education, and exhibitions. Throughout her career, she has integrated real-world artistic exploration into her artwork and classrooms to create contemporary, hands-on, engaging, and inclusive artwork and learning environments.
An accomplished visual artist with a strong record of residencies, publications, and exhibitions in respected galleries and arts organizations across the United States, Susan is committed to creative exploration, community engagement, and professional growth through artistic practice.
Susan holds a bachelor's degree in Studio Art from Nazareth University, where she studied painting under the guidance of Kathleen Calderwood, and a master's degree in art education from the Art of Education University, where she was recognized for excellence in painting. She has experience in working collaboratively with arts organizations to produce original works, curate exhibitions, and contribute to the cultural vitality of local and regional communities.
Her artwork is a mirror and a map of her life, revealing fragments of her inner world and experiences living as an artist both in Rochester, New York, and Bonita Springs, Florida. Her work ranges from sculptural mixed media paintings, to collages and acrylic paintings that reveal a glimpse of her life and experiences.
Susan embraces the philosophy of Georgia O'Keefe, "Great art is the outward expression of an inner life in the artist," feeling that If her paintings do justice to the experiences of her life, she will be successful as an artist.
