Jerry Alonzo
Through his sculpture, Jerry Alonzo seeks to engage viewers in a world that is both beautiful and often unfair.
His passion for wood and tools has been a constant throughout his life. After developing his skills over the years and studying furniture design at RIT, he spent much of his career as a lawyer and a judge. Today, he draws on those experiences, along with his craftsmanship, to explore the intersection of beauty and fairness.
Using a visual vocabulary of simple house forms, birds, boats, flowers, and engraved text, his work leverages the natural character of wood to give form to his reflections on social and environmental justice.
