Christopher Roberts

Christopher N. Roberts is a whimsical natural science artist specializing in pen and ink, gouache, and digital illustration. His work spans landscapes, still life, natural science subjects, and expressive animal and character design — blending the precision of scientific observation with the playful energy of cartooning to create imagery that is accurate, colorful, and emotionally resonant.

A lifelong artist with formal training, Christopher spent 30 years as an internet pioneer, building websites and digital agencies while continuing to sketch on his iPad and develop his artistic voice. In 2024, he deepened his focus through the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Certificate in Natural Science Illustration. He works from his own photographs and imagination, merging close observation with storytelling to reveal details others often overlook.

Influenced by John James Audubon, R. Crumb, Robert Bateman, Vincent van Gogh, and Dr. Seuss, Christopher creates work designed to spark joy, childlike wonder, and meaningful emotional connection.

He can be found at regional art fair markets, creating mascot characters for businesses and accepting private commissions. Christopher is honored to be part of the Pittsford Art Gallery community and its talented group of greater Rochester artists.
